- Turn off your computer when you're not using it. Simply putting it to sleep is not as good, it's still using energy.
- Buy only the amount of computer you need. Buying too many add ons, or a computer that's much bigger, or powerful than what your needs require waste resources. Worse it'll cost you more. If you eventually need to upgrade remember to donate or recycle your computer. Throwing it away is not ok and a huge waste.
- Desktops use more energy on average than a laptop - if possible buy a laptop instead of a desktop.
- No matter what sort of computer you buy, look for the energy star label - yup, the label is not just for washers anymore.
- Use refillable ink cartridges. Most office stores offer these now.
- When you set up your computer, also set up a paper recycling center next to your desk. If you have a paper bin right there, you're more likely to recycle.

A computer uses energy when it's off - you gotta cut off the power completely.
