If you work for a company, or have a home business, it's smart to consider how to get more business (obviously). Here are some things you should be doing, if you're not already.
Advertise: This is a given for most companies, but I see a lot of self employed individuals who never advertise at all. That's a mistake. A simple flyer is better than nothing, although a listing in a phone book is better.
Have a website: I saw an article recently that noted, "Websites aren't worth it" - I disagree. Frankly, I'm shocked someone would even write that. Everyone I know is tuned in and online. I find 95% of what I need online. If I need your service, and you're not online, you missed my business.
Visit trade shows: Networking trade shows is great. Having an exhibit is even better. Just don't attend unprepared. Be sure to create a killer marketing material package to hand out.
Host a lunch: When done correctly, an event such as a casual lunch can be a good way to gather new customers. One idea is to also invite current happy customers and partners who will make a good impression on incoming clients.
