Have you seen the new Sharpie commercials? The ones promoting David Beckham?
To be honest I love Sharpie all to pieces, but wasn’t seeing the connection of a soccer star to one of my fave pens of all time. Then I got an email from my normal PR sources that notes, "Beckham, whose autograph is among the most sought-after in the world, will become Sharpie's global ambassador in a fully integrated global marketing campaign that rolls out initially in the United States in early March."
Ah ha! I had no idea that everyone wanted his autograph so badly (I'm not a sports person). But I get it now; the autograph, the pen... yeah.
In any case, there's no doubt that Mr. Beckham, and his famous signature is a wonderful partnership for the Sharpie side of things. They're already making a stellar product, in fact, to improve it, they could be a little more eco-friendly, but I still love how their pens flow. I've got tons of Sharpies already, and although Beckham doesn't move me much, I'll still be buying Sharpies as the years go on I'm sure.
