Is anyone else having issues with getting back into a work-minded mode after the holidays? I sure am and I didn't even take a break. I had a huge project over the holidays. Yet, I find myself not really wanting to work my regular (i.e. stable) jobs. Sigh; here are some ideas that might help you to get back into a swinging sort of work mode.
Know that it's not your job: Truthfully, it might be your job making you slack -- but this isn't about that. If you normally love your job, yet, are having trouble working now that the holidays are over, know that it's not just you. It helps to know you aren't the only one. Lots of us have the after holiday slumps. This is no reason to start thinking you need to find another job -- don't stress yourself out more.
Get to bed sooner: During the holidays many of us stay up later. It's time to get back on a regular schedule. Don't switch it up on the weekends either. I do that sometimes and my week following is always a nightmare. Go to bed at the same time, a time that works for you, each night of the week.
Go shopping!: Yes, shopping. It's that time of year to get a brand new appointment book, some new folders, a new pen, or spice up your business cards. There's nothing like shiny new supplies to get you motivated. The appointment book is especially effective. All those empty lines just scream at you to work.
Go slow: If you had a large amount of time off during the holidays, it might be best, to ease back in. Start with a four day work week or cut out early a couple of days a week. Yes, I know this isn't always possible but if you can do it.
Set some work goals: Make some goals, put them on a list, and proceed to check items off.
Reward yourself: Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean you can't still have fun. Think about how you and your work pals go out after work, bring some aromatherapy into the office, and try to plan extra fun on the weekend.
