How to create a better office environment with furniture, supplies, and products

I meant to mention this list last week and it somehow slipped my mind. The good news is that this list should still help you out if you're shopping for some office tech tools and equipment.

The Product of the Year list for 2007 was released last week by CMP Channel's CRNtech. CMP is a media and marketing solutions company that serves the technology industry.

For instance, CMP publishes media favorites like TechWeb, InformationWeek, ChannelWeb, CRN, EE Times and TechOnline. They also produce major tech industry events such as Interop, Web 2.0 Expo, XChange, Game Developers Conference and the Embedded Systems Conferences.

This is a big deal for the winners each year. All the winners will be featured in the December 17th issue of CRNtech magazine.

And the winners this year are...

• Security Product of the Year: SonicWall TZ 180

• Virtualization Product of the Year: VMWare Infrastructure 3 with Lab Manager

• VoIP Product of the Year: Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007

• Wireless Product of the Year: Extricom Interference-Free EXWO-404 WLAN Switch

• Operating System of the Year: Microsoft Windows XP

• Application of the Year: Tableau v3.0

• Desktop of the Year: HP Compaq dc7800 Ultra Slim Desktop PC

• Notebook of the Year: Toshiba Portege R400

• Chip of the Year: Quad-Core AMD Opteron

• Smartphone of the year: RIM BlackBerry Curve 8310 

Surprised? I was a bit by the notebook of the year because frankly I hear less stellar accounts of this Toshiba than some others. Still a pretty good list and notice the lack of Vista which I’m sure was not Microsoft’s intent considering all the fanfare surrounding it. I like XP too so its fine with me
