I just read the absolute best article. You will love it; and sleep better because of it hopefully. The article, at Business Week is How to Get a Good Night's Sleep. I think it should be required reading among offices and other businesses.
Author Bruce Weinstein, PhD says, forget everything you thought you knew about getting a good night’s sleep. Forget pills and the perfect sleep schedule; instead focus on five key questions and ask yourself these questions each night.
Weinstein’s questions include:
- Did I avoid causing harm?
- Did I make things better?
- Did I respect others?
- Was I fair?
- Was I compassionate?
Not assuming an actual physical problem, Weinstein notes that someone who can say yes to all the above is on a quick road to meet their sleep fairy.
You know; I really agree. Even when I’m super stressed because work is insane or my son is sick I manage to sleep ok if the above questions aren’t a problem in my life. Sure I blog for a living. I’m not in social work or medical field anymore but these questions still apply.
Do they apply to you – in your line of work? I bet they do. Unless you work in a cave and never reach out to anyone (and if so why are you reading this?) than the questions are important.
Read the rest of this great article and consider what you can do to make your world flow better with the world of your boss, co-workers, clients, and everyone else you meet.
How are you sleeping at night? If you said, "Not great" are work issues to blame?
