One fairly disturbing poll shows that many
11% of Americans are ready to sign up. Yikes. Do I even have to give you reasons as to why this is a bad idea? Did anyone else see 2001: A Space Odyssey? This is sort of along the lines of allowing technology to take over your body. What happens when we let machines take over total control? Nothing good.
17% of the folks ready to get implanted were men and only 7% were women. The poll relates that “ONLY 11%” total agreed it was a good idea but 11% is a whole lot of chip implanted people if you ask me.
The new poll released a few days ago by 463 Communications and Zogby International also reports the following:
- “24% of Americans said the Internet could serve as a replacement for a significant other.
- More than half of Americans believe that Internet content such as video should be controlled in some way by the government.
- Only 33% of 18 to 24 year-olds supported government stepping in on content, while 72% of those over 70 years of age support government regulation and ratings.
- While there are well-document fears about identity theft, many Americans would gladly give up their name for a cash windfall.”
So, chip implanted brains, people replacing partners with computers, government controlled internet videos, and more. Good times. Haven’t any of these people watched the X-Files?
I have and here’s some news:
- People willing to pay money for your name are up to no good.
- We should never allow the government more power – they don’t honestly deserve what they already have.
- Chips in your brain (or other body parts) = BAD.
Seriously though, this was a very strange poll. Look for more to come soon from 463 Communications.

Oh my goodness--I'm lazy, but not so lazy as to actually want the internet hooked up in my brain so I didn't have to find a computer and log on!
Hmm. Just with your brain, huh? No passwords or monitors or touchpads or rebooting or anything?
OK, so maybe it's starting to sound kinda handy...
