It's Blog Action Day!

Blog Action Day was created with the goal of having bloggers from all over the world focus on one topic for one day.

This year it's the environment.

At last count there were 15,175 blogs signed up to participate reaching a combined total of 12,292,327 readers by rss. That’s astounding. Many of the Know More Media bloggers are participating – later I’ll bring some of those posts over for your viewing pleasure.

Why is Blog Action Day even a big deal….

Bloggers have the ability to reach a lot of people and every single post counts – even the most business-like blogs have a reason to blog about the environment.

The environment and green living issues may not seem like a big deal when you’re stuck in an office all day but it does matter. If we don’t all work together to make a difference both at home and at work our planet will die. That’s not a theory – you can’t treat something so poorly and expect it to thrive.

We need to change how we think every day not just today. When so much of our lives are spent working one of the ways we can create the biggest change is at work.

I’ll be here all day with green-minded office posts but while I get that together how about a song. I normally wouldn’t play a song here but then I started thinking what the heck it’s a special day and we all need music at work.

I was thinking Neil Young and here’s why. Young works just like us; it’s just that his office is a studio and tour bus. However, he does try to make a difference for the environment at his place of work. Not only does he write albums with an eco-message but he walks the talk. For instance; tours in general wreak mass havoc on the environment but Young has attempted to give back by fuelling his tour buses with Biodiesel. Biodiesel is a cleaner burning fuel made with renewable resources like recycled cooking oil and soybean oil.

To learn more about Young and his other at work eco-efforts visit his website. As to what song I don’t know. If it were just me I’d play something obscure but it’s not just me and I know mornings can be better with a good routine so I’ll post something that everyone will know.

Nothing like Neil in the morning; have a great earth-friendly start to your day.

I love how many people are getting into Blog Action Day! It is so important to be environmentally conscious everyday and it's so easy to make a big change. Thanks for posting the some Neil Young, really brightened up my blog-surfing morning.
I'm working with a coalition that is trying to bring awareness to the energy bill awaiting ratification. As of now Congress is asking for a 15% renewable electricity standard and the Senate is asking for a 35 mpg fuel economy standard (both by 2020). The impact of this bill would be monumental but it can't lose anymore of its power to reductions in standards imposed by auto lobbies and other self-interested groups. Join me in trying to get the bill passed as is by signing the petition available at: www.energybill2007.org. Thanks!!!
