Actually good new for residential offices of all sorts. Whether you work from your home office or set up your business in a home instead of an office building now you can avoid the worst distraction – bad neighbors.
RottenNeighbor.com is a recently launched website that offers help all sorts of residents who want to choose better neighbors. I can relate. Remember my move last week?
Well, one of the biggest reasons I moved was BAD neighbors. Loud music, thumping on walls, cussing outside my door, and water being tossed onto my patio at all hours of the night is not conducive to what I would call my perfect working environment.
I don’t even need perfect quiet believe me. I work while my son asks me nine million questions and I play my record player the whole time too. I’m no noise diva; yet the constant thumping and shaking of my walls due to bad rap music was seriously breaking my concentration.
With RottenNeighbor maybe you can avoid some of this misery. It’s a fairly simple concept. Here’s the stats from their site:
“Our goal is to be an exceptionally smart assistant when you are looking to move into a new neighborhood. We hope that you will be able to find your dream home in your dream neighborhood by using our data and information provided by other users such as yourself. We then hope you will return the favor to other home buyers by adding to our database.”
They say dream “home” but they actually cover condos and apartments as well.
They also note:
- “Real estate agents will never tell you about bad neighbors.
- If a bad neighbor exists, this information should be made freely and easily available to everyone.
- More and more home buyers and sellers are looking towards the internet for guidance.
- The more bad neighbors you add, the better the service.”
True all of that. Also I’d add that my BAD neighbors are still living by my old place despite me calling the cops over eight times, despite their manager receiving a multitude of complaints (from lots of neighbors – not just me), and despite breaking their lease agreement (by moving other people in, etc). So, what you complain about may not get fixed. I did however get a good bundle of money from the manager since I HAD to move; good thing to or I’d likely have taken legal action. It takes a lot to move. I don’t have the time and had to change my mail plus pay to have internet and cable moved. Stuff like that. It cost me work hours.
Don’t be me. Simply check out RottenNeighbor.com before you lay down a home payment or sign a lease.
