The flames flashed for 15 seconds reaching his chest before it ended. He was lucky. According to PC World, glossy paper in his pocket may have saved his skin from being burnt.
Technically he was lucky on two counts. The man does work at an airport which is one place you do not want to be caught with your pants on fire – the poor guy could have been gunned down.
Apple was not yet available for comments. I guess that Apple did send him a package so that he could return the iPod… Well, that was thoughtful. You’d think they might have sent him some cash too or at the very least a new iPod.
Apple, Dell, and Lenova have recalled numerous lithium-ion battery in the past because of their potential for creating fires in laptops and just guess what kind of battery was in the iPod.
