Not a good time to be looking for that new better office job folks; yesterday CNN Money reported that the number of Americans gainfully employed actually fell for the first time in four years.
It’s not as huge a shock as it seems considering the current turmoil of the housing arena and financial sectors – even office supply companies have suffered this year (gasp). The current unemployment rate is 4.6% while payrolls are falling lower than before.
The Labor Department reports a loss of 4,000 jobs in August. There appears to be some confusion around the actual number of unemployed in the U.S. (fuzzy math) because the current full unemployment stats vary from a recent household survey which shows that 316,000 individuals reported a drop of job status – if this is true, than unemployment is actually at a larger figure than 4.6% but household surveys aren’t considered that reliable. Not sure why because it seems like if you’re going to lie why not make yourself look good not unemployed.

Ah, I love a good list – three are even better. Especially three that can help you keep your job. One last tip from me; it never hurts to sock away for that rainy day. You’d be surprised how a couple of bucks a day in even a plain (but decent) vanilla saving account can add up.
