Tayco's motto is, "Office furniture with a new attitude" -- or at least that's what it says on their homepage.
I somewhat agree. I was checking out the Tayco Up office environment in my latest issue of Architectural Products -- a great office space issue by the way and up next they have their green issue so yea! I gush sometimes.
But anyhow, where was I, oh yeah, checking Tayco out and the set shown in AP felt a lot like school to me. Once you grow up you don't want to spend the rest of your life in an office that resembles where you spent the last 15 years (give or take).
Still I do love Architectural Products so I figured if they were in there Tayco must have something going for them. And guess what? They most certainly do. I visited the Tayco website and some of their products were pretty impressive.
The following three office environments are from Tayco's Panelink collection. I randomly decided to show some from this set today -- but they have numerous great sets so I'll post those another time.
First one I don't like to show you what I mean about school.
See what I mean. Granted these have nicer chairs than I did in school but still. Any second I expect a teacher to walk by. Yawn. The orange drawers are a nice touch though. Technically office spaces like this have their place maybe but I don't see why you'd want to work here for years.
Now for two set-ups I really liked.
Nice splash of color huh. Just a taste; not too much but enough to pump up an office space. I love how it glows. Plenty of storage, open space, clean lines. Now see, this is much better and wait until you see the next little space creation.
This friends, is a great little space. Here's why... Tayco created this space that's workable in an office lobby maybe, a break room, or a wide hall and it's a stop. Stop and make a call, stop and jaunt down some notes, stop and check inner office mail, what have you. It's open but also a little private. I like that it's tall because in typical offices a lot of stuff is so short and this is sort of fun -- like you're at a bar having an after work martini (not that I'm saying drink at the office but you know).
Some specs according to Tayco include:
- "Off-modular capabilities.
- Glazed panels allow natural light to reach all individuals.
- Three panel trim options -- metal, oak and maple -- infinite design possibilities.
- Easy customization capabilities.
- Acoustic panels reduce noise and provide privacy."
You can see all the stats and download a Panelink collection brochure at their website. I was having lots of fun over there browsing office spaces -- you will too. I'll be showing more designs here at some point but if you can't wait hop on over to the Tayco website.
