This month anyway.
I get so many magazines; it's not even funny. I get magazines related to all the areas I write about, which is considerable, but I don't tend to read them all and I usually don't plug them but this month's issue of WIRED was too good to pass up.
I'm a sometimes WIRED fan. As in sometimes the innards of the magazine put me to sleep and sometimes I get an issue that is so packed full of funny and helpful stuff that I wish I never said the magazine puts me to sleep.
All that considered, if you work in an office setting rush out and grab yourself the August 2007 issue of WIRED. Yes Martha Stewart is plastered across the cover (does she look good for her age or what) but don't let this dissuade you. This issue is an action packed 'How To' issue and it's got an entire section of 'how-to' tips for the office set.
Such as:
- How to lawyer-proof your email (with stuff I never, ever, thought of before)
- How to get fired, including great tips for getting te best letter of reference possible in this situation.
- How to run a fast meeting (thank god).
- How to get promoted.
- Choose gifts for office parties; although I do a good job of that so from WIRED it's just icing on the cake.
- How to multitask.
- How to Wiki.
- How to refill the watercooler; which is actual advice about watercoolers, not just a joke. With these tips a novice will be swinging the watercooler around in no time.
And my personal favorite: How to arrange your cubicle action figures; along with a helpful pictorial. There are more helpful tips as well that will help you out after work such as how to order a drink; make ice cream like a mad scientist, unload crap online, and get backstage at a concert.
All in all, a highly successful month for the good folks at WIRED. Good job guys!
