That's an office standard for many; but it may not be for too much longer. You may instead be hitting cyber space each morning with your cup o' joe.
Rupert Murdoc's stunning take over of The Wall Street Journal has many wondering if the future of the print version of this legendary paper is at stake.
Readership for the Journal is already down in numbers and in a recent interview with Tom Stoddart of Time Magazine Murdoc had this to say:
"What if, at the Journal, we spent $100 million a year hiring all the best business journalists in the world? Say 200 of them. And spent some money on establishing the brand but went global — a great, great newspaper with big, iconic names, outstanding writers, reporters, experts. And then you make it free, online only. No printing plants, no paper, no trucks. How long would it take for the advertising to come? It would be successful, it would work and you'd make ... a little bit of money. Then again, the Journal and the Times make very little money now."
The Wall Street Journal online edition already has more than 900,000 subscribers which makes it the highest paid subscription on the web. If this is the sign of what's to come that morning paper tucked neatly under your arm at the office may become just a distant memory. Not to mention what this means to the future of print media everywhere. Do we want to wreak our eyes spending our lives away online or is it sometimes pretty cool to have a nice slick hardcopy of a publication in our hot little hands.
What do you think? Do you like the idea of having everything print go digital? And what about the Journal? Will you still read it at the office if your only option is an online version? Tell me about it.
While your thinking; stop some of my other pal's blogs at Know More Media and see what they think about the ground breaking sale of The Wall Street Journal.

Great post! No, I'm not really in favor of having everything digital. The truth is, although I'm online most of the day, not everyone is.
