- Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
- Change all light bulbs to the energy saving versions.
- Buy recycled office paper, ink cartridges, envelopes, and any other goods that come in both new versions and recycled versions (why buy new if you don’t have to)?
- Try some glue. In other words, just because it’s broken it’s not trash! Fix that broken table, chair, or shelf before buying a new one.
Recycle: you can recycle cans, glass, paper, newspapers, ink cartridges, and other paper goods. These awesome bags from Oddpodz can help in a rather stylish way. - Donate old items to new causes. Take old computers and give them to a social service non-profit or that stack of one-side printed paper to a day care for coloring.
- But you shouldn’t have extra office paper to give away – print on both sides.
- The biggest energy waster in most offices is equipment. The printer, fax machine, and all those computers do not need to stay on all night.
- Clean out the office kitchen. No more plastic, no more paper plates, no more unnecessary waste. With all the money you save from not buying this stuff you can afford to install a dishwasher in the office kitchen.
- Along those lines; bring back watercooler chats. Get rid of bottled water and get the office a good old refillable tank.
