Dan Costa from PCMagazine provides a "preview review" (the product isn't available for sale quite yet) of the new SonyReader ebook reader. Apparently this product is a vast improvement over previous ebook readers available on the marketplace. It allows you to connect to your PC, load e-books for later reading, and download RSS feeds. I download a lot of ebooks. Currently I print out ebooks to read them on paper. I like to lounge on my sofa with a cup of tea to read an ebook printout (much more relaxing than sitting at my computer). The downside of my current method is 1) waste of paper; 2) hyperlinks don't always print so I miss some of the meaning.
So would I purchase an ebook reader like the Sony PRS-500? Possibly. For me the number one selling point would be comfort. Can I hold it comfortably while relaxing on my sofa? Is the type legible even in bright sunlight? Are the setting easy to adjust? How long does the battery last? If an ebook reader improved on my current ebook experience, I'd be willing to give it a try. What about you? What would an ebook reader have to offer to get you to switch?
