If I'd known how much trouble it was going to be to set up my new computer, I might have stayed with the old one.
Call me stubborn or just plain stupid but I spent at least six hours over the Labor Day Weekend trying to do the Windows XP Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, with no success. I finally gave in and made an appointment for my computer tech guy to come onsite and do it for me. It took him nearly three hours to do it (he also set up my wireless network and a few other things), so no wonder I was getting frustrated messing around in my amateurish way.
Way back in 1987 when I got my first PC, a wise technician told me that when it comes to computer problems, if you haven't figured it out within 20 minutes, it's time to call an expert. I did remember that advice this past weekend, but I wanted it done immediately and I stubbornly believed that I could do it myself. Alas, in the end I was defeated.
But there's always a silver lining: all my frustrations have given me lots of things to report about in this blog. Stay tuned.
