I just started using an interesting new online tool called StumbleUpon It's a free download of a toolbar that lets you specify what kind of content you're interested in.
From their website:
StumbleUpon is a web discovery service which integrates peer-to-peer and social networking technologies with one-click blogging. The StumbleUpon toolbar coordinates the collection, distribution and review of high-quality web content within an intuitive social framework, providing users with a browsing experience which resembles "channel-surfing" the web.
Hmmm... Why would people want to do a basically random Internet search? I guess for the same reason that people channel surf on their television: to see what's on. And maybe to "stumble upon" something cool that they never would have found otherwise.
OK, this is just what I need - another way to waste time surfing. Just joking. I actually have found useful information in my initial forays using StumbleUpon.
If you want to give it a try, Andy Wibbels has put together a free instructional video that shows you exactly how to download and use StumbleUpon. It works with Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.
