Stephanie Brail, Editor of OnCoaching (a website providing news, information, resources and community for life and business coaches) has compiled a list of free project managment software. The criteria that she used for compiling her list were:
1) free or cheap
2) simple and streamlined (like Basecamp)
3) hosted (meaning you don’t have to put it on your own web server).
Stephanie explained that Basecamp is a popular online project management tool, but the free version only gives you the ability to work on one project. And other tools, like dotProject are more complicated than she wanted for basic collaborating. The five solutions that she came up with - Clocking IT, OfficeZilla, AceProject, activCollab, and NetOffice - are all open source project management solutions that look relatively easy to use.
Have you used any of these products? If so, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
Or do you know of another project management software that meets the "free or cheap, simple and streamlined, and hosted" criteria? If so, please let me know by using the "comments" link below.

Hi,
If you're looking for simple binary management of tasks (done/not-done), then you might take another look at Basecamp. Even the free account allows you to have multiple lists even if you only get one "project". Regardless, if you could share some insight on why dotProject* didn't meet the requirements, I'd love to hear...
Oh, and one of the problems with NetOffice is that it is no longer under active development. Much of their community is steadily joining the dotProject community.
Thanks.
