Always on the lookout for products that help with MPS (Mouse Pain Syndrome), I noticed this wrist support mentioned on StrangeNewProducts.com. It's called the WristEase, made by the company of the same name.
I haven't tried this product, but judging from the product photos, it looks like it does a decent job of supporting the wrist so that it is aligned with the hand.
The main advantage that I see with this product is that you wear them, so that even if you move to another computer station you still have your wrist supports on. (As opposed to having to pick up a combined mouse pad - wrist support unit and take it with you.) This would be particularly helpful to people working on laptops while travelling - you wouldn't have to throw your bulky support unit in your laptop case.
Pain is a concern for the afflicted individual, but also a motivator for employers to take proactive action. According to the WristEase website, repetitive strain injuries are the most common and costly occupational health problem in the industrialized world. That translates into sick days and disability costs for employers.
And by the way, I'm thinking StrangeNewProducts.com must have been having a slow news day, because wrist supports of this nature aren't exactly strange or new. Nonetheless, I appreciate them mentioning the product since it gave me an opportunity to check it out.
