Ran across this item that gives you a step-by-step on how to turn your PC into a Mac.
Apparently there was a story on Wired News in May 2006 about the trend of people adding things to their PC in order to get the Windows operating system to look like Mac OS X.
My question is why would anyone bother? Is Windows so visually ugly that they can't stand to look at it? Or is there a "cool factor" involved - with Macs considered to be cooler than PCs?
I don't get it. Seems like a lot of trouble for not much benefit. According to the article there are 11 programs that you need to install. And judging from the questions in the Comments section it doesn't always go smoothly.
What was most interesting to me was the sheer volume, never mind the vehemence of the Comments. Over 300 comments on the posting. I have blog author envy!

Simple: It's fun! That's my reason, anyway. I just like seeing how far I can go in modding my PC's capabilities, even to the point of making XP (which I like very much, BTW) *act* like a different OS -- but without giving up any of my Windows compatibility.
