I was curious to see what Consumer Reports had to say about the Dell "burning battery" recall. In a prominent place at the top of their recall page, Consumer Reports refers to the recall as "the largest consumer electronics safety recall in (the Consumer Product Safety Commission's) history" and puts the number of recalled lithium ion batteries as "more than four million".
Interesting to observe the scale of this recall and then go to Dell's web site and try to find information. There's nothing prominent like the graphic on the Consumer Reports page (which I've reproduced here). In fact, there isn't even a text heading on Dell's homepage to help consumers. As I reported in my earlier post about the burning battery debacle, you have to scroll right down to the footer at the bottom of the page (under the Copyright information!) to see the tiny words "Battery Recall".
Come on Dell, get with the program!
