Remember those old scanners from the 90's where you had to drag the thing over the page you wanted to scan? Well, the concept has been revived, but this time in the form of a pen. Yes, Planon has released the DocuPen RC800, a 9½ inch pen that is also a scanner. The $200 price tag may seem steep, but think of the possibilities! In the context of the office, imagine going to a meeting and being able to scan in someone else's notes, to make sure you know exactly what they are expecting of you. Or perhaps scanning in parts of a document a customer has brought with them for later reference.
Outside the walls of the office, there are even more possible uses for this pen-shaped scanner. Assuming it is always with you, it could be used to scan the label of a few nifty office supplies or gadgets you'd like to ask for approval to purchase. Rather than providing a vague description and estimated cost, you could use the scanned information to pull up all the details of the products in question, do some further research on-line, and email the results off for purchasing approval.
The DocuPen can scan store hundreds of pages in black and white, and can also scan in high resolution color, although with far less capacity.
