The difference between a stellar office environment and a drab, uninspiring and frustrating one is more than a few paper-clips. There are hundreds, if not thousands of individual items that come together to make up the entirety of the office experience, and careful attention to how each of these function individually, as well as in tandem, is required to successfully create an environment that is both welcoming and highly efficient.
Other than my first job as a teenager, delivering the newspaper, all of my working life has been spent in offices. Outside of the offices I have been based out of, I have visited many others, always interested in the small, seemingly insignificant components that come together to define each space.
While I am certainly interested in the nitty gritty details that must be examined to understand the features and functionality of any one item, I also find fascinating the effect that a well-designed, highly functional element of the office can have on its inhabitants. Increasing the efficiency and comfort of each moment spent in the office is the real reason for all the effort that goes into creating office equipment, supplies, furniture and gadgets.
My many long hours spent in office environments have given me many opportunities to contemplate such things, and OfficeStuffer is a perfect forum for me to share these ideas with you, and for you to relay your experiences and opinions in return.
